If you can run two miles you can run 26.2! So heres how it goes. I remember about 8 yrs ago I used to smoke heavily and decided I was going to quit. I started to exercise and run to help get over the bad habits I developed.

I started running one mile and soon that became two. As I read books and learned how to expand I decided to run a marathon. My first was the New York City Marathon in 2003. You ask how does 2 miles compare to 26.2? This is how this works.

The first step is to find a marathon approximately six months out from the beginning of your training and sign up for it. This will ensure that you now have a commitment. Take the first month and start running 3-4 days a week being sure to stretch before and after your runs. After all your long-term health and staying injury free is a priority.

Build a base run of 3-5 miles a day over your first month. As you approach the second month start to increase this base run to about 4-6 miles a day 4 -5 days a week. By doing this you will have a good base to start from. It is not necessary to run fast. The goal here is to finish, if you need take 30 seconds to 1 minute in between each mile.

As you start to get up in mileage hydration and nutrition is important. I will discuss that in the next article. Now that you have a nice base run of about 20 miles per week you can build dramatically on this over the next 12 weeks.

Starting month 3 begin to build on your run intensity and duration. You will need to add at least one "speed" work out and one "hill" exercise to your routine and also one long run to your weekly mileage.

Here is an example of what is can look like. Monday run 3-5 miles at an average pace. Tuesday run some hills (8-10 times up a hill that is approximately 100meters in length at a brisk pace and slowly jog down) and take Wednesday off and then on Thursday run a brisk 4-5 mile run. Friday try some speed work and then Saturday off. And last try a long run on Sunday of about 7-9 miles that are at a slow pace. As you do these routines add mileage to your long run every other week by 2 miles, your mileage will increase dramatically along with your stamina until you reach around 20 to 22 miles on your long run.

The taper is the last thing to do. Three weeks prior to your planned race you need to taper off the long runs and decrease your mileage by fifty percent. Cut your long run in by a third at the first week of your taper and then run an easy 10 miler the weekend before the marathon. The week of the marathon try a few short 3-5 milers and then take some rest on Friday and Saturday before the race.

Try this and you will finish your first marathon. Happy running!

There are plenty of racing games available to play on the big three home video game consoles, but there are none any more fun than Excite Truck for the Nintendo Wii. You can have all the racing sims you want, give me an arcade racer any day.

The Playstation 3 game Burnout Paradise is one of my favorite arcade type racer which is what Excite Truck is on the Wii. The developers at Wii brought a good sense of speed from the less powerful game console. The levels bring different challenges, and then the most fun is playing with a friend in split screen mode, and that's the classic arcade mode.

The motion controls are not tacked on, not added for the benefit of having them. The control scheme works by turning the Wii remote sideways, holding it like the classic controller. The difference is that you dont use the face buttons; you turn the remote back and forth like a steering wheel and let the motion control do the rest.

The motion controls work pretty good, even better than some of the games that have been released after this one and it makes all the difference. I am not sure that this game would be as fun and as engaging if it were not for the motion controls. If it had the normal control scheme, it would get boring a little too fast because of the lack of different tracks. You can run through all of them in just a few hours.

Playing with a friend brings out the best of this game. You work on learning the motion controls so you can earn stars and open new tracks. Driving dangerously rewards you by unlocking more areas, so this game is very fun as there are lots of options.

The movie continues the story of Cloud and the other characters from Final Fantasy VII. All of your favorites are back for a new chapter in the classic story. This time though, its all cut scenes and the animation is spectacular. The CGI looks stunning and the animation is great. The story follows Cloud and his friends as they are challenged by a new form of evil and must overcome huge odds to save the day. I don't want to give much away if you haven't seen it yet, but it adds to the overall story of the Final Fantasy universe. It is definitely one that I will want to add to my Blu-ray collection.

I don't know why it is so, but I never seem to get tired of any game with the word Lego in it. I have enjoyed, along with my kids, both Lego Star Wars games as well as the Lego Indiana Jones game. Now, with Lego Batman, I think that they have gone in the right direction again.

The graphics and colors are the best looking in the series. Game play is basically the same, but since their is no reason to change this, it works out well.

It is an appropriate game for all ages, and any level gamer. It is a good game for younger players, that no bother about Batman, and older players have have been life long fans.

The extras and hidden characters are plenty and should take many plays through to complete. The ability to drop in and out at will allows for two player fun without the hassle of one person getting stuck, and if that person is of a different skill level, he can drop out and let the AI do the work for that segment of the game. It is a good game to introduce new fans to the Batman story by introducing many of the classic characters. There are so many good characters to pick from the comic books and movies that the developers were even able to get some of the more obscure characters for the player.

The time put into development, comes through during the game play. It is also not the last game in the LEGGO series. I have recently read that the LEGGO franchise is working on a Rock Band game, with LEGGO characters. It is a way to introduce the music genre to a younger audience. LEGGO games are not extremely difficult, yet they are fun. Which is why I like them so much, they are the perfect game to play with my children and both of us truly enjoy the game play.
